First you’ve got to actually decide what you want to write about. You want to pick a topic that people will actually want to read about. You want to make sure your topic isn’t too narrow, but at the same time, you don’t want a topic that’s too broad either. You’ve got to try and find the in-between here. You want the topic of your newsletter to be focused. If your topic is all over the place, you’ll lose the readers’ attention.
Then there’s content creation. For this part of your newsletter setup, you might want to do a little research. Check out forums and ezines. Scope out the competition too. The best way to get ideas for your own newsletter is to draw on other people’s ideas.
Once you’ve got the topic and the content, then it’s time to actually start writing. You want to keep the style of your newsletter conversational. Write the way you speak. Stay away from big words. They’ll just seem out of place. You want your newsletter to be as personal as possible so say true to yourself and make sure your own voice is heard.
